A success story of regional cooperation
For 55 years now, the Laundry Gstaad has been washing the laundry of the regional hotel and restaurant businesses and is thus an important partner for the tourism industry in the Saanenland. But how did the joint laundry come about and how has the Laundry developed since then?
The basic idea for the cooperation arose in the early days of the burgeoning tourism sector. The hoteliers realised that they could use synergies by working together. So the idea was born to set up a joint laundry to bundle the laundry of the various establishments and wash it together.
Less water, more laundry
The Laundry Gstaad focuses on sustainability and process optimisation. Through a continuous improvement process, the aim is to use as little water as possible for as much laundry as possible. Considerable progress has been made in this regard in recent years. Ten years ago, the washing process required 15 to 18 litres of water per kilogram of laundry washed. Today, thanks to new investments, consumption is only 9.5 litres per kilogram. A massive saving that brings the Laundry Gstaad not only ecological but also economic benefits.
For the region, from the region
The Laundry Gstaad processes between 2 and 10 tonnes of laundry a day, with demand naturally being particularly high in the high season. The company relies on close cooperation and good customer contacts. The values of Laundry Gstaad are primarily "For the region, from the region", optimal networking and a high level of customer satisfaction. These values are lived every day and are an important part of the company's philosophy. The Laundry Gstaad is therefore not only an important partner of the tourism industry in the Saanenland, but also an example of successful regional cooperation and sustainable business. The Laundry's success story shows that positive effects can be achieved in the long term through joint action and a constant striving for improvement - both for the environment and for the economy.
