A home for people with impairments
The Alpenruhe Foundation in Saanen offers a home to people with physical, mental or psychological disabilities. The staff treat the clients with warmth and respect. The focus is on self-determination and individual needs.
In a protected setting, the assisted persons can pursue their work in various studios and workshops and improve specific skills and abilities - be it in pottery, in the wood workshop or in gardening. At the same time, products are created for sale.
Encounter Zone World of Experience
However, the Alpenruhe Foundation sees itself not only as a place for people with impairments, but also attaches great importance to facilitating exchange between its residents and people outside the facility. The spacious World of Experience with petting zoo, children's railway and playground is open to the public. This deliberately encourages encounters between people with and without impairments.
In the attached café, visitors can take a break and enjoy the fine homemade products. The proceeds flow back into the Foundation and help maintain this extraordinary place.
