"The future is sustainable or there is no future"
André Hoffmann, Impact Advisory Board
With nature instead of against nature
"The future is sustainable, or there is no future." It is an urgent appeal that André Hoffmann, sustainability visionary, makes to viewers in the video interview. As a member of the Impact Gstaad Advisory Board, Hoffmann is passionate about ensuring that we tackle the challenges of our time with determination.
Hoffmann repeatedly emphasises how important it is for humanity to redefine its relationship with nature: "We humans consider ourselves to be superior creatures. But dominance is not a long-term model for success." Instead of placing ourselves above nature, Hoffmann argues that we should learn to live in harmony with it and not work against it.
In the interview, Hoffmann makes it clear that sustainability is essential for the future of humanity: "If we destroy the planet we live on, humanity is in danger." Every individual is asked to do their part. "The greatest danger is to stick to the status quo. We need change. We need to think and act regeneratively."
Hoffmann's commitment to Impact Gstaad
André Hoffmann joined the Impact Advisory Board because he believes that the Saanenland could become a model for sustainability. As Hoffmann emphasises, it is not about solving all problems at once. Rather, the Saanenland could show that a mindful and responsible use of resources is possible across generations. This "lighthouse effect" is essential for Hoffmann, as it can show mankind the way to greater sustainability and social progress. Hoffmann is convinced: "If human development does not lead to greater social prosperity, we are doomed."
