N3 - Naturally net zero

PROJECTS

More value for companies, the climate and biodiversity through nature-based value chains.

The starting point of the project is that the forest in the Saanenland is currently severely underutilized and at the same time under increasing pressure due to climate change. The aim is to further develop the forest in a climate-friendly way and at the same time strengthen regional value creation with wood. Specifically, we are investigating how the forest can be managed in the future in order to bind CO₂ in the long term, reduce risks such as bark beetles or storms and provide more local wood for construction and use. At the same time, we are working on a regional platform that better coordinates the supply and demand of wood and networks the players along the entire value chain.

What is the problem?

  • Net zero needs carbon removal and storage
  • Natural climate protection is cheaper, local and has important co-benefits – but its potential has not been fully exploited
  • Regulators are increasingly demanding approaches with forests, moors and other ecosystems

Our solution

Climate-positive value chains and an international hub
